Windy Ridge has over 50 varieties of Tomato Plants for sale during the greenhouse season. Plants are available as single plants in a 2-1/2” pot, in 4-packs, and by a full flat of 48 plants for volume planting. We also have a few varieties in gallon containers.
We Do Not Ship Plants
We grow Hybrids, Open Pollinated and Heirlooms. None of our tomatoes are GMO.
Windy Ridge grows varieties that produce tomates of every shape, size, flavor and color. We have sweet, acidic, and well balanced flavors. Plants that produce fruit from 3/4 of an ounce to plants that can produce fruits of 1-1/2 pounds. Cherry, grape, pear, garden classics, beefsteaks, oxhearts, farmer’s market producers, romas, canners, the best known heirlooms and obscure heirlooms. Colors of white, pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black and varieties that are a combination of two of the above colors. We even grow a variety that flushes five different colors on each fruit.
We grow all of our own vegetable plants from seed to finished plant ready to put in your garden. If a variety is sold out later in the season feel free to have one of our friendly and knowledgeable staff help you find a new variety to try that will give you the results you are looking for.
The optimum time to plant tomatoes in our area is Mother’s Day. Air temperatures and soil temperatures are usually high enough by then for easy care and fast growth.
Some gardeners choose to do an early planting (April 15th or after) Soil temperature is warm enough in our area then, but you will need to have protection planned for your plants for when the air temperature goes below 32 degrees.
Beefmaster 80 days Oblate 16 oz Indeterminate
Large tomato. In good conditions regularly produces fruit that is 3/4 of a pound to a full pound. Can grow as large as 1-1/2 pounds. Sweet and meaty. Low seed content. Good disease resistance.
Beefsteak 80 days Very Oblate 15 oz Indeterminate
Garden Tomato that is old enough to be an heirloom. Can grow as large as 2 pounds. Meaty and acidic with old fashioned flavor.
Garden Hybrid bred from Big Boy and Lemon Boy. Released 22 years after Big Boy. Shorter maturity and better cool tolerance than Big Boy. Same shape, production, and taste. Slightly larger fruit and more disease resistance.
Big Beef 73 days Globe 10-12 oz Indeterminate
One of our top recommended tomatoes for the home garden. Consistent round shape that is good for slicing. Sweet and juicy with plenty of acidic undertones. Well balanced meat to juice ratio. Heat tolerant and high disease resistance. Productive enough to be grown for Farmers Market, so you know it can supply you with plenty of fruit for all of your fresh eating and canning.
Big Boy 78 day Globe 10 oz Indeterminate
The classic garden tomato. Released in 1949 this tomato is still one of the most popular 70 years later. Beautiful shape and aroma. Rich flavor. Strong plant and crack resistant fruit. Moderate disease resistance.
Carolina Gold 75 days Globe 10-12 oz DeterminateAttractive golden-yellow colored fruit. Bright, never pale. Low acid with uniform ripening. Good flavor and good disease resistance.
Celebrity 70 day Globe 7 oz Determinate
Very popular garden tomato. Good shape, production, flavor and disease resistance. Cool tolerant. This tomato is most similar to Jet Star. Slightly sweeter than Jet Star. Was a popular Farmers Market tomato in our area during the 80’s and 90’s.
Chocolate Cherry 70 day Cherry 1 oz Indeterminate
Extremely flavorful uniform round fruits that grow in long trusses. Crack resistant. Beautiful port wine color. Flavor is rich and complex. Hold well off of the vine. Open Pollinated plant, so yes you ca save the seeds as with an heirloom.
Early Girl 50 day Glove 4- oz Intdeterminate
Garden Hybrid that is the earliest slicing tomato. A must have in your tomato patch for the first sandwiches of te season. Prolific producer throughout the season.
Indigo Rose 75-80 days 2-3" Indeterminate Turns dark purple/black where the light hits the tomato. Red flesh and red on skin where it is shaded. Plant is a heavy yielder. Flavor is best when fruit is fully mature. Beautiful color comes from this fruits high levels of anthocyanins, the same compound that gives blueberries their blue color.
Jet Star 75 day 8 oz Globe Indeterminate Low acid hybrid wth deep red color and high steady yield, superb flavor - garden favorite.
Juliet 60 days 1-2 oz. Indeterminate Big vines produce grape-like clusters of petite tomatoes. Typically has 12-15 fruits per cluster. Resistance to early and late blight as well as good crack resistance.
Parks Whopper 65 days 12- 1 6 oz Round Indeterminate, Big, juicy, crack-resistant tomatoes ripen uniformly. Great disease resistance and long productive season makes this an excellent home garden tomato.
Patio 70 days 4 oz Round Determinate, Designed for growing in containers, hanging baskets, or small gardens. Delicious fruit with beautiful dark green foliage provide an attractive addition to any patio,
Red Deuce 72 day 10 oz Globe shaped
Large to Extra Large fruit. High disease resistance and great eye appeal. Full flavor and good hold after picked. This beauty is a Farmer’s Market tomato. Beautify the kitchen window sill and impress your neighbors with the perfection of your abundance. Flavor is well-balanced with sweet and acid tones.
Roma 73-80 days 3 inches long Determinate Prized for its use in tomato paste and sauces, Roma produces a large harvest of meaty bright red tomatoes with few seeds.
Rubee Dawn 57 days 8-9 oz. Indeterminate Get your garden off to an early start with this very early maturing tomato. The flavor is a balance of sweetness with a touch of tartness. Compact plants make this a great addition to a garden.
Scarlet Red 75 days 12 oz Globe Determinate Extra large fruit with deep red color have excellent firmness and shelf life. Fruit is meaty with rich old-fashioned flavor ideal for sandwiches and salads.
Sunsugar 65 days cherry tomato Indeterminate Rich in Vitamin A this is one of the best tasting cherry tomatoes in existence. Plants produce heavy yields of fruits that grow in clusters for easy harvesting.
Supersonic 75 days 12 oz Indeterminate Mid-season beauties with fruit that is firm, meaty, and large in size and taste. Fruits are resistant to cracking.
Supersweet 100 65 days 1 inch Indeterminate Bearing long, branched clusters of deliciously sweet tomatoes high in sugar and Vitamin C, this is a very productive tomato. Plants need a tall support because they grow over the top of cages.
